UPDATE:  "sources in Scotland" have confirmed that the list below is accurate, but no concrete details on which malts will make it to us here in the states. Also Caol Ila DE is coming to the states in October. Here's hoping we get to sample some of these newsmakers at WhiskyFest SF 2009!

A couple of days ago John Hansel clued us all into something special coming from Diageo regarding their malt whiskys on the 4th of September. This always leads to rampant specuation and more than a few google searches. I don't know exactly what is coming, but at least it has a name now;

The Manager's Choice Single Cask Selection.

This is an interesting and exciting possibility. I have enjoyed many limited edition whiskys from the Diageo distilleries. The Distiller's Editions are a wonderful treat and many wonderful independent bottlings have come from Diageo's distilleries. Now to see what they choose to bottle in single cask runs is very exciting indeed. Anything from Caol Ila, even if it's unpeated, I must own.

The site is not live until Sept 4, but you can have a look here anyway. And there's also this:

One rumor has the following whiskies listed:

Brora 30 -- we've tasted one of these and it's awesome
Caol Ila unpeated 10 -- This. Will. Be. Mine.
Lagavulin 12 -- I'd heard this was possibly coming back
Mannochmore 18 -- No info
Port Ellen 30 -- I need this to complete my Islay set
Talisker 25 -- We've had one of these and it's amazing.
Talisker 30 -- Can't wait to try

I'll just have to wait a couple more days and start clicking reload until then.
